By PVInsights | November 12th, 2014 — The average spot price for PV-grade polysilicon decreased by 0.58% in the week through November 12 to USD 20.680 (EUR 16.586) per kg, the latest statistics by PVinsights show.
The spot price for second-grade polysilicon fell by 1.12% to USD 20.320 per kg. Polysilicon is the main raw material for the photovoltaics industry.
Meanwhile, the price for both silicon and thin-film solar photovoltaic (PV) modules remained the same at USD 0.621 and USD 0.641 per watt, respectively.
The research firm’s data shows that the spot price for mono-crystalline silicon (mono-Si) cells went down by 0.21% to USD 1.877 per 156-sq-mm piece, while the one for multi-crystalline silicon (multi-Si) cells of the same size was flat at USD 1.385. Taiwan-made polysilicon cells also continued to trade at USD 0.325 per watt.
As per solar wafers, the spot price for a mono-Si peace of 156 sq mm in size decreased by 0.34% to USD 1.186. The one for multi-Si wafers of the same size was unchanged at USD 0.880.
