The Núñez de Balboa facility has 1.4 million solar panels and will be able to supply energy to 250,000 people per year (CNBC).

While the global solar industry is bracing for the worst impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, Europe’s largest solar PV plant went online and has since sent its first megawatt-hour of energy to the grid.

The Núñez de Balboa facility, as its called, is located in the western region of Spain and is a collaboration between Iberdrola and Ecoenergías del Guadiana.

According to the project developers, the 500-megawatt plant has over 1.4 million solar panels and is capable of supplying energy to 250,000 people per year.
