Trudeau’s imposed carbon tax is challenged by Saskatchewan in its provincial court

Ottawa’s carbon pricing scheme is currently being challenged by Saskatchewan in its provincial court of appeal, but the federal government argues it has jurisdiction to impose its carbon price on some provinces under the Constitution.

In a filing this week, the government said it had to act so that one province’s failure to act on climate change “does not adversely affect the nation as a whole.”

Ontario has also challenged the federal carbon levy, and Ottawa’s response on that action will come later.
