1366 Technologies, a silicon wafers company based in Bedford, Massachusetts has raised $18 million in Series E financing.
The Series E round was co-led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, or BEV — a firm focused on technologies reducing greenhouse gas emissions and backed by the fortunes of Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, Richard Branson, and others.
The company aims to develop Direct Wafer furnaces capable of producing multiple wafers at a time within an even smaller footprint, driving the cost below $0.15 per wafer piece.
