Private investors in Honduras have installed 233 MW in eight photovoltaic (PV) parks through July 30, on time to benefit from extra incentives per kWh of solar energy, daily El Heraldo said Thursday, quoting sector regulator CREE.
The bonus of USD 0.03 (EUR 0.027) per kWh, valid for up to 300 MW of PV plants to be installed by July 31, 2015, increases the price to USD 0.18 per kWh.
The other projects will receive only the 10% incentive for renewable energy, or a price of up to USD 0.15 per kWh.
There is 233 MW ready in the Choluteca and Valle departments, according to CREE’s president, Gerardo Salgado, who did not discard the completion of other plants between yesterday and today.
The energy will be sold to state-owned utility Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica (ENEE) pursuant to contracts from January 2014 for a total 619 MW of solar power.
