SALT LAKE CITY — SolarCity has opened a new corporate office in the Vista Station development in Draper, Utah. Since opening its downtown Salt Lake City corporate office earlier this summer, SolarCity has hired 220 employees in Utah and expects to create thousands of new jobs over the next ten years, primarily in professional services functions such as accounting, finance, human resources, legal, marketing and sales support.
A recent report released by Environmental Entrepreneurs, or E2, called Utah a “hive of clean energy activity” and ranked it the #1 state for clean energy job creation. According to the report, Utah led the nation by announcing nearly 3,000 jobs in the second quarter of 2015.
This marks the state’s fourth consecutive quarter on the E2 Jobs Report top ten clean energy states list.
“SolarCity’s expansion in Utah is a welcome move in a state that works hard to provide a business-friendly climate for such investments. I know the company will feel at home in Draper, and I expect to see great things from them in the future,” said U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
SolarCity is leading the adoption of mainstream solar in communities across the country while simultaneously creating jobs that contribute to a clean energy economy. The company also plans to continue working alongside Utah policymakers to strengthen the state’s environmental policies and clean air initiatives.
SolarCity employs more than 15,000 people nationwide and provides approximately one out of every three solar systems in the U.S.
