Militsa Mancheva — Kenyan firm Greenmillenia Energy Ltd is preparing to build a 40-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant, worth some USD 86 million (EUR 75.8m), in the northern parts of the African country.
The independent power producer (IPP) said in a statement in end-January that it had already secured project financing from the Export-Import Bank of China.
Greenmillenia may receive additional funding from the African Development Bank, it added.
The company has submitted the required technical, environmental and financial applications to the local government. It has also obtained a generating license from the Energy Regulatory Commission.
The solar park, to be located in the county of Isiolo, is planned to be completed by January 2016.
