SeeNews Renewables — Italy’s Enel Green Power SpA (BIT:EGPW) will invest BRL 1.2 billion (USD 307.1m/EUR 283.4m) in the solar sector of Brazil’s Piaui state, state governor Wellington Dias said Thursday.

The investment should come into effect in March 2016 and be directed towards the municipalities of Ribeira do Piaui, Sao Joao do Piaui and Brejo do Piaui.

Governor Dias spent eight days traveling through Europe, drawing new agreements and investments for the state. During the announcement, he also mentioned that Meyer Burger Technology AG (SWX:MBTN) will invest BRL 400 million in a solar panel factory, to be located in Paulistana region.

Lastly, Dias said that the state’s wind power industry will attract investments, as well. The government did not gave many details, only that a company will invest in the production of wind power equipment for Piaui’s domestic use.
