The Irish government has launched a new program that will support customers who install solar photovoltaic panels on their homes.
The program offers $817 per kW installed up to 2 kW.
Systems up to 4 kW must include a battery storage system for a fixed grant of $1,167.
The program is funded by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment and administered by Ireland’s national Sustainable Energy Authority (SEAI).
An initial pilot will be subject to a 6-month review at which time the costs of installation will be assessed and further opportunities to broaden to other groups and other technologies will be explored.
The pilot will run until the end of 2020.
Homeowners with properties built and occupied before 2011 are eligible to apply for the grants, once approved, have six months to get the works completed.
