Premier-designate Doug Ford has made his first move by shutting down the Green Ontario Fund.
This is confirmed by a note on the program website.
The program was launched by Kathleen Wynne’s Liberal government and promised a $377 million investment to help homeowners and businesses reduce greenhouse gas pollution in buildings and industry in order to help meet Ontario’s emission reduction targets.
The program was funded through proceeds from the Ontario carbon market.
Ford, whose PC Party ran on a message to end cap-and-trade if elected, has apparently delivered.
Only recently, the Green Ontario Fund had announced very lucrative rebates for solar panels—rebates that were planned to launch this summer.
