California — Enphase Energy announced the release of its latest home battery, the IQ Battery 5P. This new battery offers homeowners in the United States and Puerto Rico a powerful solution for managing power outages.
The IQ Battery 5P is designed with modularity in mind and has the capacity to deliver 3.84 kW of continuous power and 7.68 kW of peak power for 3 seconds. This capability allows homeowners to operate power-hungry devices even during power outages.
Starting at a capacity of 5 kWh, the Enphase battery can be configured up to 80 kWh. The third generation of Enphase Energy System components includes the IQ Battery 5P, IQ System Controller 3/3G, and IQ Combiner 5/5C. These components offer improved power, resilient wired communication, and an enhanced commissioning experience for both homeowners and installers. Additionally, the IQ Battery 5P comes with a 15-year limited warranty in the United States and Puerto Rico.
The launch of the IQ Battery 5P has garnered positive feedback from industry professionals. Raul Vergara, owner and founder of Cutler Bay Solar Solutions, expressed excitement about the battery, highlighting its ease of installation and reliability, which contribute to an enhanced customer experience. Orlando Diaz, CEO of Planet Solar, praised Enphase for its innovation and quality, emphasizing the battery’s exceptional power and its ability to provide reliable energy day or night, with or without the grid.
The Enphase Energy System, coupled with the IQ Battery 5P, offers flexible configuration options for self-consumption, savings, or full backup functionality. For customers in California, the system is optimized to comply with the state’s new solar rules (NEM 3.0), enabling self-consumption and optimal energy export for maximum value.
The IQ Battery 5P can also be configured without backup capabilities, creating a grid-tied system that reduces upfront costs by excluding the IQ System Controller. Homeowners have the option to add an IQ System Controller at a later stage to enable backup functionality. Enphase’s Solargraf platform can assist California installers in designing and generating system proposals that optimize for NEM 3.0, resulting in improved electricity bill offset and payback.
Enphase remains committed to the California market and aims to empower customers to maximize the value of their home solar systems with the IQ Battery 5P under the new net metering rules. The battery’s modular design, available in wall and floor mount options, allows installers like Infinity Energy to create customized solutions tailored to their customers’ specific needs.
Safety is a priority for Enphase, and the IQ Batteries are designed to ensure the well-being of installers and homeowners. The batteries utilize Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry, offering a long cycle life and enhanced safety through excellent thermal stability.
Mehran Sedigh, Vice President and General Manager of the storage business unit at Enphase Energy, emphasizes the significance of the IQ Battery 5P as a testament to Enphase’s commitment to quality and innovation. He highlights the company’s excitement in bringing this technology to the United States and Puerto Rico through their installer network, aiming to provide clean and reliable power while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
The IQ Battery 5P is available for order by distributors in the United States and Puerto Rico, with production shipments expected to commence in the third quarter of 2023.
