SEIA | News Release — As part of his administration’s 2015-2016 fiscal year budget, Gov. Tom Wolf is asking the state legislature to provide $50 million to relaunch the popular Pennsylvania Sunshine Solar Program.
Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), said the program will help to create new jobs and expand the use of clean, affordable solar energy across the Keystone State.
“Despite being in office for less than two months, Gov. Wolf is already showing that he’s ahead of the curve when it comes to supporting creative, forward-looking public policies which will create good-paying jobs, improve the state’s economy and help to protect the environment,” Resch said. “We commend the Governor for proposing a wide range of clean energy initiatives, including a revival of the Pennsylvania Sunshine Solar Program, and urge legislative leaders to work with him on implementation. These initiatives promise to pay big dividends for Pennsylvania in the years ahead.”
Today, Pennsylvania ranks 12th in the nation with more than 250 megawatts (MW) of installed solar capacity – enough to power nearly 27,000 homes statewide.
