ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. | ALON/7-ELEVEN —
One of the nation’s greenest cities just got greener. Starting today, Albuquerque residents can easily reduce their carbon footprint and lessen their impact on the environment everyday.

Teaming with ALON Brands, GreenPrint LLC, creator of the world’s first carbon neutral gasoline program, announces the availability of the STRIVE™ – Reduced Emissions Fuel Program, an innovative program bundled in with ALON’s high quality fuel, at 122 pumps across 23 ALON owned 7-Eleven stations in Albuquerque, N.M.

STRIVE is a program that reduces carbon emissions in a sustainable way and counteracts the negative effects emissions can have on the atmosphere, climate and way of living. Consumers can automatically offset harmful emissions by pumping the same high-quality ALON fuel as always at no additional cost or effort. Every time a customer pumps a gallon of fuel at an ALON 7-Eleven, STRIVE will calculate the vehicle’s tailpipe emissions and invest in projects that reduce those emissions by up to 30 percent.

“ALON sets itself apart by continuously seeking innovative programs that will ultimately improve customers’ lives and the communities in which they live and serve,” states Jonathan Ketchum, senior vice president of retail for ALON Brands. “When we learned about the opportunity to offer a reduced emissions fuel program, Albuquerque was a natural launch market given its rich ecological footprint.”

To offset drivers’ carbon emissions, the STRIVE – Reduced Emissions Fuel Program invests locally, regionally and globally to replace or reduce emissions that harm the atmosphere. The projects it invests in are certified and proven to sequester carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. When selecting partners, STRIVE has an eye on efficiency, location and relevance, investing locally whenever possible. Most notable beneficiaries in Albuquerque are Tree New Mexico and the Arbor Day Foundation. In addition, STRIVE invests in cleaner alternative energy such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power generation.

“We are excited to partner with a brand that so closely aligns to our mission,” says Suzanne Probart, executive director of Tree New Mexico. “The main greenhouse gas that vehicles emit is carbon dioxide. By planting new trees and preserving mature ones, we are able to absorb those harmful gasses while providing shade, preventing erosion, and beautifying our community. STRIVE provides a unique opportunity to get the consumers involved right from the pump.”

One day we may all be driving zero emission vehicles. Until then, STRIVE is a simple program to help address a global challenge. “ALON has long invested in Albuquerque, and we are pleased to join them in this process,” shares Peter Davis, founder and CEO of GreenPrint. “As one of the most eco-friendly cities in the U.S., Albuquerque is a perfect market to introduce this socially responsible program bundled with fuel. With your same car and the same fuel, STRIVE is a no cost, no hassle and convenient way to do the right thing. Today 90 percent of consumers take a few extra steps to the blue bin to recycle. Similarly, we hope people will turn into ALON stations to fill up and do the right thing.”
