Bloomberg reports that Longi Green Energy Technology Co., the world’s biggest solar company, is entering the hydrogen market.

LONGi Green Energy Technology is a Chinese company that mainly operates businesses in mainland China.

Well-known for manufacturing solar energy products, the company produces monocrystalline silicon ingots, monocrystalline silicon wafers, semiconductor materials, and solar cells.

LONGi Green Energy Technology registered a new hydrogen company called Xi’an Longi Hydrogen Technology Co. as a new entity on March 31 in China.

Energy companies are increasingly turning to hydrogen as a possible carbon-free fuel that could be produced by electrolysis of water powered by renewable energy, and then stored and transported and used in everything from cars to electrical generators to steel mills.
