Green Ontario has announced details of the much anticipated rebate program for solar panels and energy storage.
The program provides homeowners $1.00 per watt for residential solar panels with a cap at 10kW (AC).
It adds $0.50 per watt, for a total of $1.50 when homeowners couple solar panels with an energy storage installation. Those who wish to go completely off-grid get $3.00 per watt for a solar panel plus energy storage install.
The program provides businesses $0.75 per watt for commercial solar panel installs with a cap at 500 kW (AC).
Only existing detached homes, townhouses or semi-detached homes qualify for the solar rebate program. There are also other options for homeowners with new custom built homes.
Businesses, on the other hand, qualify for the program as long as the building exists in Ontario.
No specific date has been announced for the start of the program but it is expected to launch this summer 2018.
The Green Ontario Fund is a not-for-profit provincial agency tasked with reducing greenhouse gas pollution in buildings and industry to help meet Ontario’s emission reduction targets.
The program is funded through proceeds from Ontario’s carbon market.
I would be interested in a quote for my detached home Tesla roof shingles and a powerwall install and how much would be rebated on the total. This would help me make a decision if it’s the right fit for me.
