SeeNews Renewables — Renewables groups SunEdison Inc (NYSE:SUNE) and JinkoSolar (NYSE:JKS) and more international sector players have responded to the request for qualification (RFQ) for building an 800-MW solar farm in Dubai.

The list of firms and consortia that have taken part in the RFQ also include Engie-Marubeni, ACWA Power, EDF-Nebras, Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV)-Masdar, REC Solar and Acciona, among others.

The Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) said about 20 entities have participated.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will launch early in 2016 the request for proposals (RFP) round for the 800-MW phase III of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar complex. DEWA is expected to have a 60% stake in the phase III project company.

Dubai aims to bring the share of solar power in its mix to 25% by 2030. As part of the emirate’s green plans, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park is planned to reach as much as 5 GW in capacity.
