The federal government of Canada has announced the launch of a call for proposals to recruit, train, and mentor up to 2,000 new Energy Advisors across the country to support the Canada Greener Homes Grant.
The Canada Greener Homes Grant will provide as many as 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 each to help homeowners make energy-efficient improvements to their homes, supported by an EnerGuide evaluation.
The announcement says an EnerGuide home evaluation gives homeowners a better understanding of how their home uses energy now – and identifies retrofits to help improve energy efficiency.
Canada currently has a little over 936 energy advisors in the country, so the $10 million commitment should quickly ramp up the number.
Energy advisors work by providing a detailed analysis of how the different elements of a home act as a system.
In essence, they have the potential to enable the deeper energy savings that will be required if Canada is to reach its net-zero emission objectives.
