SANTA CLARA, Calif.,| HiQ Solar —
At a ceremony held at the Intersolar Europe trade show in Munich, Germany, Dr. Lutz Henckels, CEO of HiQ Solar received the Award for solar innovation for the TrueString 480V. “HiQ Solar’s device is a worthy winner of the Intersolar Award 2015,” said the judging panel.
Introduced less than a year ago, the TrueString 480V 8 kW 3-phase inverter had to be innovative and convince the jury of “it’s extraordinary nature.” The submission process included supplying information on patents, data sheets, test reports and certifications earned. In order to qualify for submission, the product had to have undergone industrial trials and/or already be in industrial use, be judged to have particular innovative merit in technological and economical terms, create scope for cost reductions in production and/or sales and have the potential to make an important contribution towards satisfying industrial or societal needs.
The award team summarizes the product benefits as follows:
Lightweight and robust – an inverter for customized roof-mounted installations. The three-phase TrueString 480V Inverter from young Californian manufacturer HiQ Solar was predominantly designed with industrial roof-mounted installations in mind. Two separate 1,000 V DC entry points with independent MPP tracking (maximum power point tracking) allow installations to be configured more flexibly and ensure that these installations are working at maximum capacity. Thanks to ultramodern semiconductor technology based on silicon carbide, the innovation has a CEC efficiency (according to the California Energy Commission) of 98% as well as a high power density, making it more lightweight than conventional systems. At just 11 kg, the inverter is easy to handle and install. Furthermore, the device is robust enough to withstand even extreme conditions, such as in desert or in coastal regions.
