Germany — tagMeyer Burger Technology is advertising the release of its new high-performance solar modules. The company is launching three patent-protected product variants manufactured using heterojunction/SmartWire technology in the company’s production facilities in Germany.
The launch includes White, Black and Glass modules in the rooftop market for residential and small commercial customers.
The panels come with an up to 400-Wp capacity in standard size, a module conversion efficiency of up to 21.8% and a homogeneous “full cell” appearance, even though half cells are used. They weigh less than 20 kg.
The white and black module variants come with performance guarantees of more than 92% after 25 years, while that of the glass-glass product is guaranteed at over 93% after 30 years.
The solar machinery specialist noted that the glass-glass module is bifacial, with a record-high bifaciality factor of 90% when it comes to volume production. It achieves a combined output of more than 430 Wp at standard measurement conditions (BSTC).
Sales of the new products will focus on Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Benelux region, Italy, France, Poland, the UK, the Nordic countries and the US. The company said it is working with a number of international distributors including BayWa r.e. and IBC Solar.
Meyer Burger will manufacture the modules at its factories in Bitterfeld-Wolfen and Freiberg in Germany, using its proprietary heterojunction/SmartWire technology, which effectively prevents so-called “microcracks”.
The plants in question, fully running on renewable energy, will be opened at the end of May and proceed to gradually begin mass production.
First shipments are scheduled for July 2021. Initially, the company will rely on a nominal annual capacity of 400 MW, but expects to reach 5 GW by 2026.
Also today, Meyer Burger said that newly-appointed solar sales expert Sven Stoffers will be in charge of the company’s sales activities around the world, with the exception of the US. Stoffers previously held sales roles at SolarWorld AG and Hanwha Q Cells.
