DALLAS — TXU Energy introduced TXU Solar from SunPower, providing the highest efficiency solar panels available in the market.

SunPower® solar panels have a 25-year combined power and product warranty and during that time, produce 70 percent more energy than conventional panels in the same space. With an expected lifespan of more than 40 years, SunPower panels enable residential consumers to produce more of their own electricity than other rooftop systems with conventional panels.

“For years, Texans have been able to rely on us to provide the information and tools they need to manage how much electricity they use,” said Scott Hudson, chief operating officer for TXU Energy. “TXU Solar from SunPower further empowers our customers to reduce the amount of electricity they buy and gives them yet another innovative choice to meet their electricity needs.”

TXU Energy is one of the few retail electricity providers that pay residential and small business customers for electricity their renewable energy systems generate but their homes and businesses don’t use.

TXU Solar from SunPower comes with a simple online and mobile monitoring system so homeowners can track their electricity production.

“SunPower is pleased to team up with TXU Energy to make high-efficiency and highly reliable solar power accessible to Texas families,” said Howard Wenger, SunPower president, business units. “TXU Energy customers can have the peace of mind that comes from the combination of SunPower’s industry leading technology and 30 years of experience and TXU Energy’s proven success providing unique customer solutions. We look forward to welcoming more Texas homeowners to our more than 500,000 customers across the globe that are benefiting from SunPower’s industry-leading solar technology today.”

SunPower, one of the world’s most innovative and sustainable energy companies, has had an office in Texas since 2011, currently with more than 350 local employees.

The new offer is launching in North Texas. To be eligible, consumers must own a single-family home with a south-to-southwestern exposure. Affordable financing options will be available, helping more Texas homeowners choose solar to meet their energy needs with no money down. Homeowners can keep the solar tax credits and any local incentives for which they may be eligible.

Residential and small business consumers with rooftop systems from other providers may be eligible to join TXU Energy and receive payments for their excess renewable electricity.
