MEYREUIL | 20 March 2015 — Optimum Tracker, a French company specialized in solar trackers development for utility PV plants, announced the expansion of its business to South Africa with the opening of an agency in Johannesburg.

Successful completion of three solar PV plants in France

Optimum Tracker designs, manufactures and installs cutting-edge solar tracking systems for utility-scale solar power plants. One year after the first contract was signed, the fast growing company has finalized 21 MW of PV projects with top French developers.

One of them was installed on a landfill site that required adapted positioning and adjustment.

Christian Malye, Technical Manager at Générale du Solaire, a French solar energy producer, said: “We have entrusted Optimum Tracker with the mission to supply and install solar trackers for our Podio Alto plant. The single-axis trackers O-Track Hz meet our expectations in terms of performance, and the project was very successful thanks to the team’s professionalism and involvement.”

The O-Track Hz employs a patented system, Opti-Access, based on a linear activation, ensuring unimpeded rows. This technology strongly facilitates circulation and maintenance.

“With the completion of these successful projects, we can be proud of what we achieved in less than a year. Developers, manufacturers, bankers: Optimum Tracker’s products have convinced all the players involved in a solar project.” says Madyan De Welle, Managing Director at Optimum Tracker.

Next step: South Africa
Solar projects are rapidly multiplying in South Africa, which is largely due to the success of its Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (EEIPPP), enabling the country to rank among the top ten largest utility-scale solar markets.

“New investments in utility-scale in South Africa are promising and we strongly believe we can play an important role in the country’s PV development. Our products are designed to significantly increase PV projects’ profitability.” claims Yacin De Welle, President of Optimum Tracker.

With its Johannesburg agency, Optimum Tracker will be able to fully adapt its robust and advanced solar tracking solutions to utility developers and operators in South Africa and is planning on partnering with local manufacturers and installers. Optimum Tracker confirms its strength with the completion of these successful projects and is now armed to develop its activities worldwide.
