SeeNews Renewables — Chile’s environmental authorities have agreed to evaluate a 195-MW solar project submitted by Inversiones y Servicios SunEdison Chile Ltda, the local unit of US renewables major SunEdison.
Located near Polpaico, in the Metropolitan region of Santiago, the El Tapial project comprises a photovoltaic (PV) park with an installed capacity of 215 MWp whose output will be delivered to the grid.
The park will be built in a rural sector, outside the urban area of Tiltil and the state’s protected areas.
The company has scheduled the construction for October 2016, with an estimated USD 400 million (EUR 362.4m).
In Chile, SunEdison has installed 300 MW in four PV plants and has recently started construction of another, 110-MW park in the same region like El Tapial.
