The White House Business Council and Business Forward are organizing the briefing at the White House with senior Administration officials on Wednesday, February 17 to discuss efforts to make America the world leader in sustainable energy production and methods for mitigating the effects of severe weather. Dr. D’Couto and others will brief senior Administration officials on how the government can help spur investments that will bring new energy products and solutions to market.

In other battery, fuel cell, clean energy developments and happenings in the market: FuelCell Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: FCEL), a global leader in the design, manufacture, operation and service of ultra‐clean, efficient and reliable fuel cell power plants, yesterday announced a contract with Cenovus Energy Inc. to complete the preliminary front-end design and engineering (pre-FEED) for siting a fuel cell system to capture CO2 from flue gas. The system would be at an existing 14 megawatt natural gas-fired co-generation facility located at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada.

Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP) last month announced that it has signed an Equipment Supply Agreement (ESA), valued at $12 million, with Guangdong Synergy Hydrogen Power Technology Co., Ltd. (“Synergy”) to provide FCvelocityTM-9SSL fuel cell stacks for use in commercial buses in China. Ballard expects to deliver the stacks in 2016 and 2017. Synergy will collaborate with Dongfeng Xiangyangtouring Car Co., Ltd. (“DFAC”), which is part of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, a Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer headquartered in Wuhan. Dongfeng Motor Corporation is the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in China.

Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ: PLUG), a leader in providing clean, reliable energy solutions, will welcome Congressmen Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Chris Gibson (R-NY) to a visit and full tour of Plug Power’s manufacturing facilities. This tour will showcase the vertically integrated manufacturing operation in Latham, New York, and spotlight ways that Plug Power continues to lead hydrogen and fuel cell system development and manufacturing in both New York State, and the entire country. Following the tour, the Congressmen will join Plug Power CEO, Andy Marsh, for remarks to Plug Power employees and the media.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp., (NASDAQ: CLNE) recently announced that sales of Redeem™, its renewable natural gas (RNG) vehicle fuel offering, more than doubled in 2015 to 50 million gasoline gallon equivalents (GGEs) from 20 million GGEs in 2014.
