The sonnenBatterie, one of the world’s most popular residential storage systems, is officially install-ready in Hawaii after meeting the advanced energy storage requirements from the Hawaii Electric Companies (HECO). First installers already partnered with award winning, smart lithium storage system

LOS ANGELES — After meeting HECO’s energy storage requirements, the fully integrated sonnenBatterie smart energy storage systems are immediately available to residents and ready for installation across the Hawaiian islands. Approximately 95% of the 1.4 million residents on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island, Lanai and Molokai are served by HECO and its subsidiaries, the Maui Electric Company and the Hawaii Electric Light Company. The products are now available in Hawaii through local sonnenBatterie certified installers, including Big Energy Savers, Haleakala Solar, Photon Works Engineering and Renewable Energy Services.

“Adding energy storage to solar PV installations in Hawaii is now financially beneficial for residential customers with a payback of as little as 6.5 years. Our smart energy management software allows homeowners to maximize their solar production during the day, storing excess solar for use at night or when utility rates increase,” according to Boris von Bormann, CEO of sonnen U.S. “The sonnenBatterie is a key to energy autonomy enabling customers to produce and store 100% of the energy they need for daily life or for backup power in the event of a grid outage.”

Combining HECO’s new residential distributed energy tariffs, the self-supply tariff and a grid-supply tariff, with the sonnenBatterie energy storage ensures the continued growth of rooftop solar installations and the sustainability of distributed generation on the utility grid in Hawaii.

“The sonnenBatterie energy storage products meet all the new tariff obligations in Hawaii, including zero export. Our intelligent storage systems come ready to install out of the box and easily integrate with new and existing solar systems making them ideal for homes across the islands,” says von Bormann.

sonnen is coming to Hawaii on March 1-2, 2016 to host two educational events – one introducing our sonnenBatterie to local installers and one on the ease of installation for our partners.
