According to the latest short-term energy outlook provided by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), solar power will continue growing in 2018 and 2019.
EIA expects solar generation to increase from 211,000 MWh/d in 2017 to 263,000 MWh/d in 2018 (an increase of 24 percent) and to 289,000 MWh/d in 2019 (an increase of 10 percent).
Comparatively, in 2017, EIA reports that wind generation averaged 697,000 MWh/d.
The organization forecasts that wind generation will rise by 8 percent to 756,000 MWh/d in 2018 and by 4 percent to 784,000 MWh/d in 2019.
EIA is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating independent and impartial energy information to promote sound policymaking, efficient markets, and public understanding of energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment.
