NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana’s fastest growing private company, PosiGen Solar Solutions, marked the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina by making an unprecedented clean energy contribution to the City of New Orleans to help create a resilient City Hall.

PosiGen, with generous partners SimpliPhi Power and Schneider Electric, is providing 25 kW of solar PV panels, energy storage and an educational monitoring display for the public.

The rooftop solar installation will deliver clean power for City Hall to reduce energy costs, as well as provide backup power in the event of power disruptions or a future natural disaster.

“PosiGen is proud to give back to this amazing city that we call home,” said Thomas Neyhart, CEO of PosiGen. “Our company was created here, and as we continue to grow rapidly nationwide, we want to maintain our corporate headquarters here and work to create a more resilient and affordable New Orleans for all.”

As reported just two weeks ago by Inc. magazine in their annual list of the 5,000 Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S., PosiGen Solar is #1 in growth in New Orleans and the state of Louisiana, and the 58th fastest growing private company in the nation.

“Few cities understand the importance of energy resiliency more than New Orleans, and we commend PosiGen for their generous contribution to local sustainability,” said Catherine Von Burg, CEO of SimpliPhi Power. “Using SimpliPhi’s proven, non-toxic energy storage solutions will give City Hall clean energy even when the sun is not shining and the grid is unavailable.”

“Schneider Electric is thrilled to be a part of the project and believes in creating distributed power generation and storage resources for communities like New Orleans,” said Dhaval Shah, Product Manager of Storage Solutions for Schneider Electric.

Aaron Dirks, co-founder of PosiGen Solar, notes, “PosiGen’s incredible growth in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina shows that the clean energy industry can be a major economic engine for our region in the coming decades, creating thousands of safe, good paying jobs for Louisiana.”
